Finished Product – Graphics

Finished Product – Graphics

Firstly we were asked to create a poster for an upcoming film we had created individually. Firstly we were asked to create a storyline for a film to make it easier to produce a poster. The Twilight Saga and The Vampire Diaries inspired my storyline; I chose these vampire films, as I wanted mine to be a romance film as well as a vampire film. I started out designing my title; I decided to make it myself using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Adobe Illustrator CS6 to make it my own, again I used The Vampire Diaries title/logo to give me ideas. The style of my poster is dark and mysterious, so I added the setting of the woods and added smoke to add to the effect, the technical quality used is up to the expected standards and was carefully edited using Photoshop. When people seen the poster I wanted them to be intrigued and want to see more. My audience group aimed at 15+ teenagers as the film is certificated 15, I think my poster will attract the females more than the males.

After producing the film poster we were then asked to produce a DVD sleeve to the poster, my DVD sleeve is obviously very similar to my poster as I didn’t want to confuse audience, on the DVD sleeve it goes into the film with a little more detail but not too much. My DVD sleeve contains a different setting from the poster but is still recognisable as the main character Is still on the front. There is also a short blurb on the back, telling the audience what the film is about without spoiling it. There are also quotes from other magazines on there praising the film. I researched The Vampire Diaries DVD sleeve and used some of the ideas to make it look professional but of course changing it to fit my genre.

We were then asked to research and produce a magazine cover of our choice whether it was fashion, music, sport or games. I chose to do a music magazine, as I love music. I started with a photo-shoot using a classmate who was going to be the artist. After I had got my picture and photo shopped it so it was perfect for my magazine cover I then began creating the layout around it and where I want all the information. The style of my magazine cover is plain but interesting with a blank background and a purple theme. It includes what the magazine of that month has to offer, price, who the artist is, any deals within the magazine and celebrity news, I added these to intrigue the audience and to add a little insight into the magazine I want them to help see the magazine. My intended audience is 12+ for any who loves music and loves reading magazines and gossip. I used Photoshop to create my final design, as the years progress my Photoshop skills increase so the quality is up to standard.

Overall I enjoyed making the magazine the most as I had made film posters on my first year and prefer that poster. I love working with Photoshop and seeing something come together in the end. My Photoshop skills can still be improved as I have much more to learn. I found this assignment easy and got it completed on time.
